Extend Data Protection to Cloud Workflows

Business data constantly moves through SaaS applications and cloud drives. GuardStance Cloud DLP discovers shadow IT, distinguishes corporate tenants from personal accounts, and controls uploads, downloads, and external sharing.

Control Sharing Without Losing Business Context

Cloud security requires more than identifying an application. Security teams need to understand what information is involved, which activity is taking place, and what action is appropriate.

GuardStance combines endpoint inspection with direct API scanning for Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Box, and Salesforce—enforcing the same data policies across cloud and on-premises channels.

How does it work?

  1. Find the apps

Every SaaS app in use, approved or not.

  2. Know the data

Labels and the Detection Engine say what is being uploaded.

  3. Set rules per app

Upload, download and share, decided app by app.

  4. Report

A shadow IT report lists the apps nobody approved.

What does it cover?

  • App catalog

Categories and risk notes, plus your own entries.

  • Per-app rules

Upload, download and share, set for each application.

  • Corporate or personal account

Different rules where the service tells them apart.

  • Data at rest

API scans of Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Box and Salesforce.

  • Shadow IT report

The apps in use that nobody approved.

  • AI services included

AI tools sit in the same catalog; AI Data Security adds prompt controls.

Questions about Cloud DLP

Is this a CASB?

No, and it does not try to be. Cloud DLP is the data-protection layer for the applications you already use: it knows what the data is and applies the same policy as every other channel, without another product to deploy.

How does it see cloud apps?

Through the endpoint agent, which applies the same policies to uploads from each device. Data already stored in the main SaaS platforms can also be scanned through their own APIs, without moving it.

Are AI tools covered here?

Yes. AI services sit in the same catalog as other cloud apps, so upload rules apply to them too. AI Data Security adds prompt-level controls such as masking on top of those rules.
